CAKES

Well I have done the cats and the cards so here are the cakes!

I saw a card recently containing a stamped image of a woman sitting on a cake. At first I thought it was two separate images put together and then spent ages looking for the stamp! When I found the stamp and realised it wasn't just the cake I decided to draw one. Well, once I had drawn one I couldn't stop! but at least I have made 3 cards using some of the cakes. I used the Cuttlebug embossing folders for the Tag and the two circles and the Wizard scallop circle dies. The flowers on the top card are a Penny Black stamp. The dotty paper was a free download and the "Celebrate" was cut using my Cricut.

Hi Kirsti,

You know when you are lying in bed can't sleep, well I think about card making and I had the idea of inking up the inside of a Cuttlebug folder before putting the paper in, thereby colouring and embossing at the same time. Anyway, in the morning I had completely forgotten about it. Then not too long ago I was looking at another blog (Monica who is a Stampin up Demonstrator and member on UKS and she had obviously had the same idea but put hers into practice which then reminded me. She had used the technique with a different folder and in fact on her Blog (which is fantastic by the way) she actually has a demo on showing how she has done it. Basically I used one of the Stampin up die ink pads which are great and a lot bigger than normal, using a brayer I then inked the front of the Cuttlebug folder then put my paper in then put it through my Big Shot as normal going quite slowly and voila! you have a great coloured and embossed background. Monica has run hers through twice, when she got more or less through she came back the other way, but when I tried it that way it went a bit funny, but just have a practice.

Tracey, I will warn you not to look at the cakes, in fact I do have some pictures of cakes from last year, I will have to see if I can find them!
